An older dog can still have a very full social calendar. Frosted Faces Foundation gives senior dogs care and a route into a home, with several ways to get to know them before deciding whether fostering or adoption fits your life.

The community hikes are a particularly approachable introduction: register with the volunteer team, get matched with a resident dog and meet the group at a Ramona-area trail. Leave your own dog at home so a rescue dog gets the outing.
