Amazing Strays connects rescued animals with foster homes and adopters across the San Diego community. Adoption events are one way in, but the range of volunteer roles makes it relevant even when bringing an animal home is not possible. Photography, screening applications, transport and event support all help the rescue move animals toward permanent homes.

Its Doggy Days Out program is especially worth exploring if you would like time with a rescue dog before considering a longer commitment. Eligible dogs are identified through the rescue, and the team coordinates participation. Event volunteers can help set up, handle dogs and talk with potential adopters; drivers help with appointments, events and supplies.
