Free Flight gives companion parrots a place to live, socialize and meet people in Del Mar. During reserved visits, guests walk among the birds, talk with them and may offer approved fruit and vegetable bowls. Staff and docents explain parrot care, turning the outing into a chance to learn about the needs behind those striking personalities.

The boundaries are clear: visitors cannot touch or hold the parrots. Book a time slot before arriving, and keep an eye on the weather because the flock’s outdoor time can be affected. If you want a continuing connection after a first visit, the sanctuary also offers volunteering, adoption, membership and bird sponsorship routes.
